This Week's Featured Artist
January - 2018
Charlene Lavinia is a Doylestown resident and longtime summer resident of Southold, NY. She studied at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, graduated with a B.S. in Art Education from the Pennsylvania State University, and received a M. Ed. in Art Education from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art. Her experience has included commercial graphics and commissions in addition to 34 years of teaching high school fine arts in the Central Bucks School District.
“My work is almost apologetically traditional, perhaps due to early training in illustration and years of teaching materials and methods. I thoroughly enjoy observation and working to achieve effects of color and light.”
Since retiring from teaching in 2011, Charlene has
enjoyed having the time to more seriously pursue her own work. She is a member of the James A. Michener Museum, East End Arts and the Art Guild of the Purple Isles. Original works are currently on display at the Riverhead Town Hall, Riverhead, NY. Other works can be found at the following online registries: http://www.eastendarts.org/resources/registry/artist-registry.html and www.buckscountyartists.com
